have u ever wonder?why must we serve?cause we got no choice and we lan lan have to serve have to serve...HYAH!
have u ever wonder?why must we serve?cause we got no choice and we lan lan have to serve have to serve...HYAH!
famous lines to a famous song if u have ever been thru national service.yes...songs have and will always be a part of national service and though u dont need any musical or singing talent for it, u still can sing for yr nation.
so that fucker who, because of the need to further his piano skills skipped his national service, decides to come back after 30 years because his parents are too old to visit him in england and intends to hold a concert here soon....was just fined $5000 dollars which hardly burns a hole in his pocket.he'll probably get the money back from those singaporeans who will be stupid enough to go for his concerts and mutter suckers before he leaves.
y do u think people are so fucking angry with him?not just because he skipped ns u know, but seriously, its unfair that just because he is a world renowned pianist,he gets away with it,i mean come on,many would gladly give up $5000 to skip ns and think about it,there was this guy from my camp who awol-ed for 16 months and surrendered himself and was thrown inside the detention barracks for 2 years.
mind you, this guy didnt awol because he wants to learn how to play the piano better,he awol-ed because his mom suffers from depression, his dad is in prison and his girlfriend is pregnant and he cant survive on the $450 the army pays him and thats why he awol to work 2-3 jobs just so that he can pay for his mom's medical fees and the costs of having a new born son.The thing is he came back on his own accord after 16 months after his problems are settled and was promptly thrown into db for 2 years.
where is the fairness in that?
personally,i enjoyed ns.i wouldnt pay $5000 in exchage for such an experience but then again, ns also changed my life a hell lot and its not fair that people can take it lightly and pay $5000 just to not do it.Its an insult to national servicemen all over the nation.
i nearly died 3 times in the army...
i ended a 2 year relationship with my then girlfriend because of army
i could have been in my third year in university instead of first year
and never once did i complain that its the army's fault but for this guy come along and did wat he had done is just a total insult and humiliation.
is my life,my time and my relationship, the lives and time of so many others and so many relationships worth a mere $5000?
i dun think so
but the judge certainly think so...it just doesnt seem right for the judge to imprison him for 3 yrs because he is a world renowned pianist who probably pays $5000 just to buy a toy for his kids.no no no...to the judge and the upper class it seems perfectly alrite i guess but if its u and me,i guessed we would already be squatting in mowbary(dunno if i got the spelling correct) camp now.I guess the judge will probably be at his concert sipping champagne with him after that.
it just sends out a signal that its not worth it to defend your nation anymore..."u guys are just cheap labour but if u are a world class pianist u can escape with a mere $5000"
y should we even bother keeping ourselves fit?
y should be do our best for each ict?
y should we respond quickly to mobilisation?
y should we bother to kiwi our boots?
y should we even care?
i know...
cause i dont have $5000 and i cant play the piano for nuts.
The departure
Roy KeaneManchester United legend1993 - 2005
Yesterday marked a day of sadness and shock for all Manchester United fans around the world when the club announced that it has parted ways with captain Roy keane. It comes as a big shock because he is only expected to leave in january and everything is just so sudden.
Who can forget all the wonderful years that he spent with the club, for most of it as the captain, a captain who leads by example and has no fear whatsoever for anyone. He plays his own game and expects every team mate to play to his level, thats is partly why Manchester United is one of he most successful club in europe.
We wish him all the best.

hahaha...funny piece of comic i found. Guess in this difficult period of bombs going off and birds getting the flu, a little humour can do good i guess.
For those that don't understand wat it means...
u probably got a bird brain...okok...i was just kidding...no pun intended...haha...seriously i am joking
it just means that all it takes nowadays for a rooster to wake the farm up is just a simple "KAH CHOO!!!" due to the bird flu. THats the geese...oh..i mean jeese of it...hehehe
9 days to the first paper and that too means that 9 days to my 21st bday, one that i won't be celebrating and don't have the time to celebrate. But i seriously think its a pity cause its the big 2-1, the apparent age of adulthood(ok...time to start acting like one i guess) and while others celebrate by throwing big parties and having their parents presenting them with a key to a mah-se-lee ass-al-kay(suckers...PUI!), i would be mugging in my room feeling cold and sad that exams have to take away the joy of celebrating my birthday from me.
At least my mom promised me my buffet week after exams...hahaha...that would be their present for me and i guess i am really contented with that already. My heart goes out to my dear friend ken too cause he is also having exams and his birthday is just a day after mine, so we are the sad birthday babies of NUS.
Once again, lets hope that bombs would stop going off and that farmers would feed their poultry some panadol so that they would recover from their flu quickly.
All the best to all for yr exams!!!
